Telephone/teleconference interpreting: Telephone or teleconference interpreting is an efficient solution for overcoming language barriers. The interpreter can either work remotely (separate from both parties) or be physically present with one of the parties. In either scenario, they provide interpreting services through a telephone conferencing setup.
This service is particularly valuable for clients unable to travel internationally but still need to conduct business discussions or share progress updates. Simultaneous & Consecutive interpreting
Simultaneous interpreting (also available with Video Remote Interpretation (VRI))
Simultaneous interpreting is ideal for international conferences, high-stakes business discussions, seminars, and symposiums. Typically, two to three interpreters work from a soundproof booth, separate from the audience. They take turns interpreting at high speed, switching every 15–20 minutes to maintain focus and ensure the highest quality interpretation.
Using headsets, the interpreters listen to the speaker’s message and deliver it in the target language almost instantly (“simultaneously”) to the intended audience. This method also supports relay interpreting, which is especially useful for multilingual presentations where speakers use several languages.
Consecutive interpreting (also available with Video Remote Interpretation (VRI)) is one of the most widely used types of interpretation. It is suitable for business discussions, negotiations, contract signings, commercial, legal, and technical meetings, medical appointments, court hearings, on-site inspections, and audits.
In this mode, the interpreter listens carefully to the speaker, often taking notes, and then conveys the meaning in the target language. They typically wait for a natural pause or for the speaker to finish a segment before delivering the interpretation quickly and accurately.
Consecutive interpreting is also commonly employed in conferences for panel discussions, Q&A sessions, or private interactions between parties, whether at a stand or another setting.

About Depositions
Commonly used in the law of the United States and Canada, depositions, also known in some states as Examinations Before Trials, are out-of court oral testimonies made by witnesses as a means of gathering information for later use in court or as part of the litigation discovery process. During the deposition, the witness/witnesses are asked questions by the litigators (attorneys) which they must answer under oath. No judge is present and the court is not involved in this process. The witness(es)’ testimony is recorded by either a stenographer or electronic recording device and may be called upon in court.
When a witness does not speak English as their first language, interpreters are required to bridge any communication difficultues. Given the vital importance of depositions in the litigation process, interpreters used in depositions must be experienced, professional and adhere to judicial protocol. They must have a thorough knowledge of “legalese” and any relevant industry terminology, as well as a thorough grasp of the nuances and idiosyncracies of both languages as questions are often challenging and/or subtle. Due to the recent increase in non-English speaking witnesses, highly-skilled deposition interpreters are now even more in demand. TJC can guarantee deposition interpreters of the highest calibre, with many years experience in this type of work and the competence to ensure clarity, precision and utmost discretion.
About Finnish
Finnish is spoken by approximately 5 million people worldwide, around 91% of the population in Finland use it as a first language along with almost 5.5% of the population in Sweden, as well as minorities in Estonia, Russia and Norway. It is now one of the official languages of the EU.
Finnish is, along with Estonian and some lesser spoken languages around the Baltic Sea, a member of the Finnic branch of the Uralic language language family. It is similar in construction to Estonian but by no means mutually intelligible with it. Surprisingly, Finnish is not at all related to Skandivanian neighbouring languages such as Swedish and Norwegian but most people in Finland are able to speak Swedish as a second language and Swedish has official language status in Finland. Finnish also holds minority language status in Sweden.
Interestingly, it was not until 1863, that Finnish achieved official language status in Finland, before this, Swedish was the language used in government, education and literature.
Other minority languages spoken in Finland are Russian, Estonian, Finnish Romani, as well as the three Sami languages, Northern Sami, Inari Sami and Skolt Sami.
Finnish is written using the Latin alphabet minus the letter ‘w’ which is merely a variant spelling of ‘v’, plus three diacritics: Å, Ä, Ö. š and ž are also letters used to convey the sound of foreign loanwords, but can also be written as sh and zh. Finnish is written phonetically which makes it easy for native speakers to spell – each letter roughly equates to one phoneme.
The Finnish language is subject to modifiers and suffixes depending upon the case. There are 8 locative cases in Finnish plus the genative, accusative, nominative and other cases which affect nouns and adjectives. The subject is indicated through the use of suffixes added to the root of the verb.
