Which types of interpreting can our Czech conference interpreters offer?

Two forms of interpreting are required at conferences and TJC Global is happy to provide experienced and specialised interpreters for both requests:

Simultaneous interpreting: In this instance, two or more interpreters listen via a headset to the speaker and repeat what is being said in the target language simultaneously into a microphone for the appropriate audience members to hear. This kind of interpreting requires lots of skill and experience and can be very tiring for an interpreter, which is why it is common for two interpreters to work in partnership sharing the work. Simultaneous interpretation like this is commonly required at conferences that involve several different languages and a large number of participants. At TJC Global, we are very happy to provide highly experienced simultaneous conference interpreters with expertise in numerous fields.

Consecutive interpreting: Although less often requested, consecutive interpreting may also be required at conferences. In this case, one interpreter is usually sufficient and will be asked to assist during things like panel discussions, Q&A (Question & Answer) sessions or in situations in which an organisation wishes to speak face-to-face with other exhibiting businesses who are set up in stalls around the conference room. For this kind of interpretation, the interpreter is more likely to interpret two-ways to facilitate conversation between parties.

About: Czech

The Czech language, which used to be known as "Bohemian" is a West Slavic language developed from the Proto-Slavic language around 1000AD. The official language of the Czech Republic, it is spoken worldwide by 12 million people, with 12,000 speakers living in Texas, USA. It also has semi-official status in Slovakia, being the most common second language of Slovakians.  In fact, Speakers of Czech and Slovak can understand both languages in both written and spoken form. It is also similar to Polish and Serbian.

Czech is written using the Latin alphabet with the addition of many diacritics, resulting in the Czech alphabet having 42 letters in total. Many Czech words do not use any vowels. The Czech language also declines nouns based on seven different grammatical cases, and three noun genders: masculine, feminine and neuter. This means it is rather difficult to learn for non-native speakers.

There are two distinct versions of Czech spoken in the Czech Republic, and they vary based on geographical region. Common Czech, the most widely spoken, is used in Bohemia, while the second is spoken between Moravia and Silesia.

Just like any other nation, the Czech Republic has its own business etiquette. See our Doing Business in the Czech Republic Page to find out more.
