There are between 10 and 12 million native speakers of Bulgarian worldwide. Together with Macedonian, Bulgarian makes up the East South Slavic branch of the Slavic language family. Throughout history, there have been many debates about the existence of Macedonian as a language seperate to Bulgarian. Macedonian was only recognised as a language in its own right in 1945 and there are still many linguists who consider Macedonian dialects to be Bulgarian.
Unlike its close neighbour language, Romanian, Bulgarian uses the Cyrillic alphabet, although like Romanian its definite articles find their place as a suffix of the noun rather than a prefix. As a Slavic language, it is relatively distinctive - having no infinitive verb form and including no case declensions. The Bulgarian alphabet includes 30 Cyrillic letters of which most, but not all, approximate to a single sound.
Simultaneous interpreting requires lots of skill and experience and can be very tiring for an interpreter, which is why it is common for two interpreters to work in partnership. They listen via a headset to the speaker and interpret what is being said into a microphone for the relevant audience members taking it in turns every 15/20 minutes.
Simultaneous interpretation like this is commonly required at conferences that involve several different languages and a large number of participants.
Consecutive interpreting is the most common type of interpreting. It is used for business discussions, negotiations, contract exchanges, commercial discussions, legal, technical discussions, medical or court hearings or on site inspections. The interpreter listens to the speaker, often making notes, and delivers the meaning in the target language afterwards. If a speech is delivered, the interpreter may wait until a pause or the end, at which point they deliver a translation relatively quickly. Consecutive interpreting may also be used at conferences for panel discussions, Q&A sessions or private discussions between parties - at a stall or elsewhere.
Facilitating interpreting is used when a client has limited English / source language skills but requires technical or in depth terminology to be clarified in their native tongue to avoid misunderstandings.
The facilitating interpreter is there primarily to ensure communication is effective and relieve the client from the fatigue of speaking in a foreign tongue.
Telephone interpreting allows parties of different nationalities, who are not able to meet in person, to communication via telephone or video conferencing.
The interpreter bridges the gap. Sometimes an interpreter is present in one of the two locations, and sometimes he/she is also located somewhere apart from both parties.

There are many aspects to business interpreting. Business conferences require interpreting for a larger scale of audience and the interpreting is carried out in a more formal fashion. Business interpreting typically occurs among a few individuals, mostly on private business dealings on a smaller scale. Other business-related scenarios such as interviews, seminars, workshops, negotiations, factory visits, telephone conferences and so on are other areas where professional, accurate business interpreting is needed.
Business interpreting takes two common forms: consecutive interpreting and simultaneous interpreting. Sometimes whispering and telephone interpreting is also used, depending on the circumstances. The interpreter is fluent in both the source and target language, and so will mediate the exchange.
Using professional business interpreters not only helps you to get your message across, expand your business and form firm business relationships, it also shows your will to communicate and work with your foreign partners. The interpreter can facilitate your business dealings and provide a global outlook to your company. Not only will the interpreter be qualified with a recognised academic degree, which demonstrates excellent analysis skills and intellectual maturity, the interpreter will also be tactful in the case of misunderstandings or tense situations, and interpreting will still be delivered in an accurate and professional manner.
Business Meeting interpretation is usually required either on-site or round a table. Delegates listen to the speaker in the source language and when the speaker has finished, the interpreter, who will have taken notes during the speech/presentation, reproduces the message in the target language for those who require it. Consecutive interpretation like this is often used for smaller meetings, business negotiations, annual corporate meetings or at official gatherings where only two or three languages are spoken.
